Fashion Expo Arabia
October 2010
Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre
|
| |
|
|
Fashion Arabia is the largest
exhibition in the Middle East for the fashion, footwear and
accessories industry. A showcase for international and
regional designers, brands and labels – presenting exquisite
couture, contemporary labels, ready to wear, Islamic
fashion, bridal wear, evening and occasional, urban and
street, swimwear, lingerie, contemporary footwear and lavish
accessories.
With a distinctive gap between high end luxury and mass
market clothing and accessories in the Middle East,
consumers are looking for unique and affordable fashion –
something that has not been seen before. Fashion Arabia is
the perfect platform for international names in the fashion
industry to introduce new, fresh labels to the lucrative
market of the Middle East.
Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Shamma bint
Zayed Al Nahyan – Fashion Arabia was launched on 26th
October 2009 at ADNEC – Abu Dhabi National Exhibtion Centre.
All eyes were focused on Abu Dhabi as Fashion Arabia 2009
welcomed designers, buyers and style experts from across the
globe. Fashion addicts were treated to three days of runway
shows, exhibitions and fashion symposiums from 26 – 28
October.
Fashion Arabia 2009 in collaboration with Shoe & Leather
Fair Middle East 2009 played host to up to 500 international
and regional fashion companies, brands, labels and designers
from 27 countries, making the event an important component
in the developing creative identity of the United Arab
Emirates capital – Abu Dhabi. Fashionistas and those who
sell to them attended the exhibition and daily fashion shows
in order to view and buy the latest trends.
Fashion is a tough industry particularly in the current
financial climate. With Fashion Arabia, we have placed the
United Arab Emirates firmly on the map as a brand in itself.
Our aim with Fashion Arabia is to encourage interest in
exporting local and regional designers as well as importing
and retailing clothes from around the world.
The United Arab Emirates, as a trading hub for the Middle
East is experiencing growth in the clothing and fashion
industry. The United Arab Emirates alone is predicted to
spend US$10 billion on garments and textiles by the end of
2010. The dominance in the industry is mainly attributed to
the economic boom in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, both markets of
which serve as the heart of the Middle East fashion market.
Until recently Dubai has been synonymous with fashion and
fashion retail in this part of the world. However Abu Dhabi
is now the new rising retail star as a result of the
Governments 2030 plan. The global spotlight has now very
much turned towards Abu Dhabi as it invests heavily in an
economic plan including upcoming cultural and residential
projects. Abu Dhabi is a tax free regional hub for the trade
of garments and fashion accessories, offering an attractive
business climate for importers and exporters from Asia,
Africa and Europe.

optical middle east

Optical Middle East provides a gateway to a wealthy and
rapidly developing market. The past years have seen huge
expansion in the economies of the Arabian Gulf States
fuelled by enormous oil and gas revenues and highly
successful moves in to large scale retail, property and
tourism ventures
Imports of quality optical products across the Middle
East were estimated at over US$2.2 Billion in 2007.
Retail space in the Arabian Gulf is growing by over 50%
per year and is expected to exceed 11 Million square
metres by the end of 2010. The United Arab Emirates
alone boasts some of the largest shopping malls in the
world. Many of these malls contain a wide variety of
modern high quality opticians and outlets retailing
sunglasses.
Abu Dhabi currently boasts the highest GDP in the world
at US$46,147. The Arabian Gulf States boast year round
sunshine, high tax free incomes, and young fashion
conscious populations. The combination of these factors
means that regional consumers are happy to spend
significant sums of money on optical products.
The Emirates has the world’s second highest rate of
diabetes which in turn is leading to a dramatic rise in
the number of visually impaired requiring eye surgery
and treatment. Spending on Medical & Surgical products
is currently booming with an estimated total import
value of in excess of US$92 Billion in 2007 with a
yearly growth rate of 13.6%.
Opticians enjoy higher than average per capita business
based on the fact that over 50% of people in the United
Arab Emirates require vision correction.
